This policy applies to driving lessons booked with Darshan Driving School Pty Ltd (ABN 13 649 118 472), whether you book online, through our booking office or call centre, in the app or with your instructor. It forms part of our Terms and Conditions.

Cancelling or rescheduling a lesson

Notice is counted from the time you ask us to cancel or reschedule to the scheduled start time of the lesson. The time you submit your request is what counts, even if we process it later. The same notice periods apply whether you cancel or reschedule.

With more than 24 hours’ notice, a paid lesson can be rescheduled free of charge, or its full value restored to your DDS Customer Credit.

What happens to what you have paid

  • Paid lessons: we keep only the charge shown above. The rest of what you paid is restored to your DDS Customer Credit for future lessons.
  • Lessons from a prepaid package: the charge is taken from the package’s time instead of money, and the rest of the lesson’s time goes back to your package. Time restored to a package keeps the package’s original expiry date.
  • Unpaid bookings: if nothing has been paid for a lesson, it is simply cancelled. There is no charge, invoice or payment request.
  • Part-paid bookings: a charge never exceeds what you have already paid. You will not owe anything more.
  • Charges are worked out on the price actually paid for the lesson, after any discount.
  • Lessons funded through the NDIS or TAC are covered by separate cancellation rules.

Example: a 60-minute lesson from a prepaid package, valued at $80.

  • More than 24 hours’ notice: all 60 minutes ($80) are restored to your package.
  • From 4 hours up to and including 24 hours: 30 minutes ($40) are used and the other 30 minutes are restored.
  • Less than 4 hours, or a no-show: the full 60 minutes ($80) are used.

If we or your instructor cancel

There is no charge. The full amount or package time is restored, and you can choose to reschedule, keep it as DDS Customer Credit, or receive a refund where applicable.

Emergencies and exceptional circumstances

If you cannot attend because of a genuine emergency, illness, accident, vehicle breakdown, unsafe conditions, a VicRoads cancellation or another exceptional circumstance, please contact us. DDS will review your situation and may waive or reduce the charge, or provide credit or a refund.

If your lesson time is filled by another booking of substantially the same value, we may reduce or reverse the charge so that it does not exceed our reasonable loss.

DDS Customer Credit and refunds

DDS Customer Credit is credit for future DDS services. It is not a cash wallet or a bank account, and it cannot be transferred.

Refunds are handled separately from cancellations and are approved by DDS. Where the Australian Consumer Law gives you a right to a refund, we will not require you to accept credit instead.

How to cancel or reschedule

Contact our booking office or call centre on 0431 336 996, or use the DDS mobile app. Please give as much notice as you can.
